A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit western Texas on Wednesday morning, in keeping with the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck about 23 miles west-southwest of Mentone, Texas, round 4:27 a.m. native time.
“You in all probability have been simply rudely woke up by an earthquake. USGS is reporting a M5.2 south of Carlsbad, NM, which occurred at 3:27am. We felt it right here in Santa Teresa,” the Nationwide Climate Service for El Paso, Texas, stated in a submit on X.
Santa Teresa, New Mexico, is greater than 200 miles west of the place the quake was detected.
Mentone is a small city in Loving County, about 220 miles from the New Mexico border.
As of Wednesday morning, there have been no experiences of injury or accidents.
